Exam Pattern Overview:
The JEE (Main) exam consists of three subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Each subject has 20 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and 10 numerical value questions, out of which 5 must be attempted. The paper is conducted in computer-based mode and is of 3 hours duration. Each correct answer is awarded 4 marks, and 1 mark is deducted for every incorrect MCQ.
Exam Description:
The Joint Entrance Examination (Main) is a national-level entrance test conducted for admission to undergraduate engineering programs (B.E./B.Tech) in NITs, IIITs, and other centrally funded technical institutions (CFTIs). It is also an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), the entrance exam for IITs. Conducted by the National Testing Agency, the exam is held twice a year, offering students two opportunities to improve their scores.
Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates must have passed or be appearing in the 10+2 examination with Physics, Mathematics, and one of Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational subject. There is no age limit, but candidates must meet the institute-specific age and percentage requirements.
